Professor Jürgen Alberty | Prof. Dr. med. Jürgen Alberty

Professor Jürgen Alberty was born in Aachen in 1965 and studied medicine at the universities of Münster (Germany) and Chicago (USA). After passing his state examination in 1991, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Pathology of the University of Bonn (Germany). From 1993 to 1997 Dr Alberty completed his specialist training in otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital Bonn (under Prof. Dr. med. C. Herberhold) and in Münster (under Prof. Dr. med. W. Stoll).

Dr Alberty served in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at University Hospital Münster — first as senior physician, then as deputy head physician. There he obtained the additional qualifications "Voice and Speech Disorders", "Plastic Surgery of the Head and Neck" and "Drug Therapy of Head and Neck Tumours", and also completed the elective advanced training course "Special ENT Surgery".

His research is devoted to the mechanisms of acute and chronic inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and to health economics. In 2003 Dr Alberty completed his habilitation in otorhinolaryngology, and in 2007 he was appointed adjunct professor. His work is published  in leading national and international scientific journals; Professor Alberty is the author of various medical manuals and textbooks.

The doctor's areas of specialisation:

• microsurgical operations to restore and improve hearing;
• endonasal video-endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses;
• salivary gland operations using facial surgery techniques;
• functional and aesthetic surgery of the nasal cavity;
• surgery for tumours of the larynx, pharynx, oral cavity, nose and paranasal sinuses, as well as the salivary glands;
• diagnosis and treatment of vertigo;
• laryngeal surgery for benign and malignant neoplasms;
• plastic surgery;
• paediatric otorhinolaryngology;
• medical expert assessment.

Professor Alberty holds outpatient consultations at his joint private practice and operates at the Luisenhospital in Aachen.
