Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg, part of the Asklepios hospital group, is one of Europe's most respected multidisciplinary medical centres and the oldest hospital in the free Hanseatic city of Hamburg.
Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg is one of the so-called maximum-care hospitals: its specialised centres and departments offer patients the full range of high-quality medical services in every field of medicine. The hospital holds the status of a supra-regional medical institution.
Every year around 28,000 inpatients and some 50,000 outpatients are treated at St. Georg. The hospital has its own helipad for emergency medical care.
Patients at St. Georg have access to innovative technology, modern treatment methods and excellent nursing care. The staff work by the motto "Your health is our priority".
The hospital employs more than 1,500 people. Its doctors take part in continuous advanced training and retraining, which guarantees the steady improvement of the medical services on offer. Asklepios Klinik St. Georg is an academic teaching hospital of the medical faculty of the University of Hamburg.
The hospital's history goes back centuries, to around 1190. The original building has of course not survived, but St. George remains a symbol of hope and of help for the sick.
Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg is known above all for its cardiology department, headed by Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Heinz Kuck.
The cardiology department at St. Georg has its own 18-bed intensive care unit. The outpatient cardiology unit offers the full range of non-invasive cardiac functional diagnostics. More than 2,000 electrophysiology studies and 1,800 radiofrequency catheter ablations are performed here every year. Over 700 pacemakers and around 150 implantable cardioverter-defibrillators are fitted annually.
