Professor Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Frank Hölzle

Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Frank Hölzle has headed the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital Aachen, RWTH Aachen University, since 2011.

Professor Hölzle is a world-renowned researcher in the anatomy, microcirculation and monitoring of microsurgical grafts and their vessels and tissues, as well as in computer-assisted planning and surgical guides for microsurgical bone reconstruction.

Professor Hölzle is a recognised specialist in the surgical treatment of tumours and in plastic and reconstructive surgery, including microvascular grafting, reconstructive-plastic, microsurgical and combined operations for tumours of the soft tissues and of the bones of the facial skeleton, as well as in complex maxillofacial prosthetics and maxillofacial traumatology.

Professor Hölzle is a Fellow of the European Board of Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery (FEBOMFS), a member of the German Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Workgroup of Jaw Surgery within the German Society of Dentistry and Oral Medicine, the German Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (DGPW), and the German branch of Interplast-Germany, the charitable association of plastic surgeons providing free medical care; he is a member and adviser of the German-Austrian-Swiss working group on tumours of the jaw and facial region (DÖSAK), the German Councillor of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, and a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Professor Hölzle's achievements have been recognised with numerous national and international awards. He is the author of textbooks and academic works on dental surgery and transplantation microsurgery, as well as of many articles in international specialist journals.

Professor Hölzle has repeatedly been included in the list of the 100 best doctors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and his name appears year after year in the list of Germany's best maxillofacial surgeons compiled by Focus magazine.
