Professor Dr. med. Niklas Plange

Adjunct Professor Dr. med. N. Plange | apl. Prof. Dr. med. Niklas Plange — Deputy Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital RWTH Aachen.

He specialises in the diagnosis of glaucoma and cataract, as well as in conservative and surgical ophthalmology for cataract and glaucoma, including senile nuclear cataract, incipient senile cataract and senile Morgagnian cataract. He is also a recognised specialist in intravitreal therapy with Eylea®, Avastin®, Lucentis® and Macugen®.

Prof. Plange performs highly advanced surgery in complex cases such as concurrent glaucoma and corneal opacification, keratoplasty and silicone oil tamponade, combined surgical treatment of cataract and glaucoma, and treatment of secondary cataract by YAG laser and surgery.

Prof. Plange is one of the supervisors of the hospital corneal bank: he performs corneal transplants (e.g. DMEK and DALK, femtosecond laser).

Prof. N. Plange is one of the authors of the academic textbook «Prof. Dr. Niklas Plange, Prof. Peter Walter: Grundlagen der Augenheilkunde»; he is the author and co-author of numerous research studies and papers in specialist journals, a participant in national and international ophthalmology congresses, an expert of the society for childhood glaucoma treatment, and a member of the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG).
