Check-up for children in Germany
- initial appointment with a paediatrician; medical history taking;
- review of the vaccination schedule;
- full clinical examination (assessment of physical and psychomotor development);
- anthropometry (weight, height, head circumference, chest circumference);
- examination of the skin and the scalp;
- examination of the visible mucous membranes: conjunctiva of the eyes, oral cavity, pharynx;
- examination and palpation of the thyroid area;
- palpation of the peripheral lymph nodes: submandibular, inguinal, axillary;
- examination of the circulatory system (inspection, percussion, auscultation of the heart);
- examination of the respiratory system (percussion and auscultation of the lungs);
- examination of the digestive system (palpation of the abdominal organs, the right hypochondrium, the liver, the epigastric region, the spleen, the right and left iliac regions, the suprapubic region);
- abdominal ultrasound;
- external examination of the genitals;
- breast examination in girls; complete blood count, urinalysis, stool test for helminth infestation;
- counselling for parents on the child's health and development; recommendations on care, nutrition, vaccination, cold-exposure conditioning and disease prevention;
- if required ― prescription of therapeutic and preventive measures;
- a written report in German for the treating doctor on the diagnostic findings, with treatment and prevention recommendations.
