Professor Dr. med. Elmar Stickeler

Since 2015, Professor Dr. med. E. Stickeler (Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Elmar Stickeler) has been Head of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and, at the same time, of the certified Breast Centre at University Hospital Aachen, part of RWTH Aachen University. Before taking up this post, Prof. Stickeler was Deputy Head of the Department of Gynaecology and Head of the Senology Section at the University Hospital Freiburg, and subsequently Deputy Medical Director of the interdisciplinary Cancer Centre of the University Hospital Freiburg. Professor Stickeler specialises in minimally invasive surgery, gynaecological oncology — including the treatment of benign and malignant breast tumours — urogynaecology, the treatment of dysplasia and prenatal diagnostics.
In 2007, Prof. E. Stickeler was accredited as a gynaecological oncologist by the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG) and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO).

Since 2008, Prof. Stickeler has been Executive Secretary of the research programme «Hormone-Dependent Cancers» at the University Hospital Freiburg, and since 2012 a member of the board of the Cancer Centre of the University Hospital Freiburg (CCCF).

Since 2013, Prof. Stickeler has served as elected Chair of the Working Group on Gynaecological Oncology of the German interdisciplinary breast cancer research association.

Professor Stickeler is a member of the German Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (DGGG) and the German Cancer Society (DKG), and the author and co-author of more than 70 papers in specialist journals.

According to the annual ranking published by «Focus» magazine, Professor Stickeler is listed among the leading German specialists in breast cancer treatment for 2016–2019.
