Dr. med. Katja Krauss

After completing her studies (1986-1993) at the Faculty of Medicine of Heidelberg University (Germany) and the University of Indianapolis (USA), Dr. Katja Krauss was awarded a doctorate in the natural sciences in 1993. She completed her specialist training in the gynaecology departments of the University Hospitals of Ulm (Germany) and Tübingen (Germany); she obtained her specialist physician qualification in Tübingen in 2002, and her clinical interests came to centre on medical oncology and senology. From 2007 to 2009 Dr. Krauss was coordinator of the breast centre and of research programmes investigating the mechanisms behind the development of breast cancer. From 2009 to 2011 Dr. Krauss was deputy head physician of the Department of Gynaecology at the University Hospital Tübingen, and from 2011 to 2014 she was head physician of the Niederrhein Breast Centre in Mönchengladbach (Germany). Since February 2004 Dr. Katja Krauss has headed the breast centre at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the University Hospital Aachen.

In 2006 Dr. med. Katja Krauss gained an additional qualification in the drug treatment of cancer, and in 2010 a further qualification in palliative medicine. In the same year she became a tutor in breast sonography for the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM) and led the corresponding courses in Erkelenz, Essen, Tübingen and Cologne. Since 2010 Dr. Krauss has been an expert on the Onkozert certification commission for breast centres. From 2007 to 2009, while continuing in her clinical post, she completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in healthcare at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (Germany).

Dr. Krauss is a member of the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine DEGUM (2010), the German Society for Senology (2005), the Marburger Bund (1996), the German Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (1996) and the German Cancer Society (1996).
